Fowey River Antiques has dated this piece to the 1930s.
It has a single train fusee movement which has been professionally restored by Alan Williams FBHI and is keeping perfect time, the movement is marked Elliott 1939 so this certainly would have been placed in the Officers Mess during the Battle of Britain in 1940 and indeed throughout World War II. It retains its original pendulum. The mounting brackets have been replaced but this in no way detracts from the clock at all.
The silver dial is completely original, it has not been replaced and has the small Kings crown.
The English figured oak case has been sympathetically and not over restored retaining its patina which is imperative for a clock of this period and interest.
Overall this is a wonderful clock in superb condition and steeped in history, a genuine RAF clock of this type and in this condition is extremely rare and a must for any collector of high quality clocks or WWII memorabilia.
The clock movement comes with a 12 month warranty.
