P A Oxley Antique Clocks & Barometers has dated this piece to the 1750s.
The backplate beautifully engraved with a basket of fruit, scrolls and foliage.

The dial with a separate silvered brass chapter ring engraved with Roman numerals and Arabic minutes. Also with a sunken name cartouche to the silvered brass centre, blued steel hands, square date aperture, brass spandrels to the corners and arch and strike/silent facility.
The very refined mahogany bell top case with a brass carrying handle and original wooden frets to the sides and front. Standing on four mahogany padded feet.
