Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1850s.
The box is trimmed in Ebony and decorated with intricate and exquisite Tunbridge inlay.
This is also the case for the escutcheon to the front of the box.

The box has been professionally relined with a hand marbled paper to create a fresh and very usable interior. Complete with working key, the box remains in superb condition (One old repair below one hinge at rear, insignificant but mentioned for accuracy) with a beautifully French Polished patina. 9 3/4" x 6 3/4" x 4 1/2" tall.
