Stunning Antique English Tunbridge Ware Tea Caddy C.1850

Description

A wonderful dome-topped Tunbridgeware tea caddy dating to the mid-nineteenth century, around 1850.

Made from exotic and highly-prized Rosewood with the domed lid have a central Tumbling Block pane with a geometric border.

The thick border around the sides is very special indeed, with huge leaves in a kaleidoscope of colours, all made up from tiny squares of inlay creating a mosaic.

The interior reveals two compartments, one for Black Tea, the other for Green Tea with lids topped with a turned Ivory knobs.

Complete with working key and in excellent condition. 9" x 5" x 5 3/4" tall.
