Bolviller Paris Carriage Clock

19th century
Description

Bolviller a Paris circa 1850. A fine, early carriage clock in the rococo style with small caryatids to the four corners. Foliage decorations to the case with unusual carrying handle. A fully engraved rear door. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the 1/2 hours and hours on a bell. Rear door winding shutters. An enamel dial with fine blued steel 'moon' hands signed 'Boviller a Paris' below the chapter ring.

A near identical clock by Bolviller is illustrated in Derek Roberts 'Carriage and other travelling clocks' book on page 101.
