Antique English Tunbridge Ware Box - Inlaid Moth C.1850

Description

A very handsome Tunbridgeware box, dating to the mid-nineteenth century. The sides are veneered in exotic (and expensive) Rosewood with a geometric tessellated tile mosaic band wrapped around all sides.

The top has the most wonderful (and highly sought-after) inlaid Moth set in a Maple background, again framed with a geometric designed border.

The interior has been professionally re-lined in a hand-marbelled paper, created a clean interior ready for use.

Complete with working key, the box remains in excellent condition. 7" x 3 1/8" x 2 3/8" tall.
