Handsome Antique English Sterling Silver Box - Angel - Edwardian - 1905

Description

A beautifully shaped antique sterling silver box with a beautifully embossed lid with a winged Cherub or Angel to the front.

The hinged lid fits perfectly and once opened, reveals a lavishly gilded interior.

There is a full hallmark to the box and a partial to the lid, allowing us to date it to 1905, Edwardian in era and having been struck in the Birmingham assay office. The makers initials can be made out as HM for the well renowned silversmith, Henry Matthews.

Excellent condition, measuring 4" x 1 1/2" x 7/8" tall. 1.78 Troy Ounces or 55.2 Grams.
