Large Antique English Walnut Jewelry Box - Pristine Original Interior - Dated 1891

Description

A fabulous and most unusual English Victorian Jewellery box, made from the most stunning figured Walnut, a rich deep Cognac colour with a bright patina.

Each side is inset with a flush solid brass carrying handle, complimenting the vacant brass inlaid cartouche to the lid and the attractive engraved label below dated 1891. There is also an engraved inset escutcheon which houses the working key.

The interior is very special, once the lid is opened the pristine interior is revealed, all in a Royal and Navy blue silk and velvet lining with gold trim. The front is a hinged fall-front.

The interior of the lid is beautifully tufted silk. Below are two trays that pull out to the sides, each set with a pocket watch holder, one large and one small ... today perfect for a bracelet or wrist watch, above which both sides are fitted to hold rings.

Exquisite in every way, in excellent condition and a large usable size with a footprint measuring 13" x 9 3/4" x 7 1/2" tall.
