Large Victorian English Blue Glass & Sterling Silver Perfume Bottle - 1896

Description

A beautiful and very stylish late nineteenth century scent bottle with a globe base and elegant lock neck, all beautifully cut. The glass is a stunning and highly sought-after blue colour graduating to clear at the base of the bottle.

The screw-top lid is made from English sterling silver, hallmarked for Birmingham 1896, making this a true Victorian example. The makers mark is also present CM for the silversmith, Charles May. The top of the lid has a vacant circular cartouche which could be engraved by your silversmith if you wished to personalize it.

The interior of the lid is cork-filled, to prevent evaporation of the precious contents.

Excellent condition, measuring 8" tall x 3 3/4" max.
