Stunning English Victorian Silver Plated Figural Basket - Swans - C.1890

Description

A really charming antique sugar basket, perfect for nuts, chocolates, preserves and of course sugar!

The handled basket has a wonderful pierced or reticulated body featuring Swans amongst the Bulrushes, expertly engraved to create an imaginative and highly decorative piece. The liner made from a Bristol Blue glass of course looks quite striking through the design.

Dating to around 1890, late Victorian in era, the basket remains in excellent condition. The rim of the basket measures 5 5/8" in diameter, the foot, 3". Including the folding handle, the basket stands 7" tall.
