Antique English Mother of Pearl Tea Caddy C.1870

Description

A beautiful example of a mid-Victorian tea caddy, with a shaped front, all very original with it's four bun feet and an old label still intact on the underside.

Covered in stunning iridescent Nacre shell, creating a myriad of colours in various lights.

The lid fits perfectly and the interior reveals the two covers with turned Ivory knobs and all edges trimmed in Ivory. The interior of the lid retains it's original blue velvet lining. The lid is mounted with a silver shield shaped cartouche, complimenting the silver escutcheon housing a working taselled key.

Excellent condition, measuring 8" x 5 1/4" x 5" tall.
