48 Hour Marine Chronometer

19th century
Description

A 48 hour marine chronometer by Brockbank & Atkins, 19th century. The 3 1/4" silvered dial signed and numbered 1252 with roman numerals and secondary dial. The twenty four hour movement also signed and numbered on brass gimbal mount with ratchet key in glazed mahogany case with brass loop handles, sloping hinged lid. The inset enamel roundel to the fascia signed and numbered.

Provenance: The Dampier Blackburn estate.

This chronometer was the property of capt Atkinson whist on the Blenheim.
