Antique English Brass Bound Military Mahogany Box C.1830 - Royal Navy

Description

A fabulous campaign style box, originally a surgeon's box which would of contained various instruments. Now ready to use or simply enjoy the beauty of the rich Flamed Mahogany with top notch brass fittings with a quality screwed construction.

The front has two buttons which have to be pressed to open, the box also comes with a working tasselled key. Once opened, the original velvet lining to the lid is revealed, complimenting the new hand-marbled paper lined interior, creating a clean finish ready for use.

The top has an inlaid plaque with the original engraving of the owner, Dr. Johnston R N for Royal Navy, making this a highly collectible example.

Excellent condition, measuring 16 1/2" x 8 1/2" x 4 1/2".
