Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1880s.

The stand is supported by the most elegant splayed feet and the kettle secured with the use of two "keys" one releases the back of the kettle so that it could pivot on the front hinge to pour while still on the stand. The key to the front can also be released removing the kettle completely. There is a burner below which would have been filled with fuel to light the wick, keeping the water hot and ready to top-up the teapot.

The handle is made from silverplate with two Ivory insulators keeping it cool to the touch. Excellent condition and a grand large size, measuring 15 1/2" tall to top of handle and 12" across from tip of spout.
