Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1850s.
The mark consists of the Crown above Birmm & London, dating it to around 1850.

The outer box is beautifully hand-painted with a rural scene and two children by a waterfall in the foreground, set next to a castle, beautifully executed with gilded and enameled corners with this decoration running right around the sides of the box.

When opened, the box reveals three exceptional and pristine boxes on the inside, beautifully preserved inside the outer box with superb scenes, perhaps of Florence, beautifully hand-painted and finished with floral decoration.

The two card boxes came with the modern playing cards in, although not period, I did leave them intact. The larger box contains a variety of Ivory and Mother of Pearl fish shaped counters.
An exceptional work of art in superb condition. The outer box measuring 8 3/4" x 7 1/2" x 2".
