Envelope Card Table - Gorgeous Frame - c1860
This mahogany Victorian period envelope folding card table is presented in lovely order. The piece makes a very attractive hallway, study, lamp or occasional table and converts to a fine card and games table with a rotating top section which folds over to reveal a blue velvet baize interior with coin or chip scoops to the perimeter.
The whole sits over original brass castors.

The table top turns through a quarter turn when used in the open position and this movement provides under-support to the folding leaves which, in conjunction with the quality inset brass hinging, gives a very stable surface.

A lower drawer is set into the serpentine skirt. It benefits from a backplate brass handle fitting and is a useful depth.
The table is of excellent craftsmanship and the hand carving detail and the overall shape of the piece make it stand out as a quality design.

The table is presented in excellent order with great colour. There are a couple of old scratches to the upper surface which we mention for the sake of accuracy - they certainly do not distract and are not unexpected in a piece of this type.

A wonderful games playing table, solid throughout and a good example of the type.
