A very decorative, original antique French clock. It is beautifully modelled in gilt brass the French Gothic style. It features 4 stylised panthers to the top and a gothic mask to the front. The front and sides of the case are delicately and elaborately fretted to lighten the design and also allow the pendulum to be seen swinging within the case. A blind fretted urn sits on top of the clock. The clock is well finished and has a good original gild.

The dial is enamel on copper with a brass centre and blued steel hands. The bezel is fitted with convex glass.

The French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. The escapement is the superior Brocot designed pin-pallet escapment. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with just some slight wear and discolouration and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition just some nibbles next to the winding holes and a light hairline through the number 5.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
