Stunning Antique English Silver Plated Biscuit Box C.1880

Description

A wonderfully handsome large oval biscuit box with an integral tray supported on four ball and claw feet.

The box is exquisitely decorated with all over repousse or embossed decoration with a central vacant cartouche to both back and front. There are oval panels with floral bouquet decoration, quite charming.

The hinge is in perfect working order and the lid fits well, the domed top is crowned with a finial in the from of a wheat sheaf.

Dating to around 1880, the box remains in excellent condition. The tray measures 9" x 7 1/2" and the lid, 7" x 5 1/2"; the box stands 7 1/2" tall.
