Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1890s.

The hinge and clasp are in perfect working order. Once opened, the green taffeta lined interior is revealed with pockets to house visiting cards, perfect today for business cards; the interior has been professionally relined.

The silver is of course hallmarked for Birmingham 1895, making this a true Victorian example. The makers initials CS*FS are present for the highly sought-after silversmith, Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders & James Francis Hollings - Frank Shepherd.
A good solid case in a good gauge silver, excellent condition, measuring 4" x 2 3/4".
