Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1860s.

During the 1830's James Burrows developed the tessellated mosaic technique which became the most well known type of Tunbridge Ware.
The top is inset with a rare castle seen, which currently I am unable to identify, this is surrounded by a floral mosaic border; the front of the two doors have central floral inlaid panels surrounded by a geometrical border.

The interior reveals four drawers with turned wooden knobs and a different inlay to each drawer front.
Complete with working key, the box is in excellent condition (some minor old age shrinkage cracks to the top; the box has been professionally re-polished). 8 1/4" x 6 1/2" x 6 3/4" tall.
