Pretty Small Victorian English Sterling Silver Box - 1897

Description

A charming little oval trinket box made from antique English Sterling silver in a delightful oval shape.

The hinged lid is beautifully decorated with a wonderful repousse or embossed border surrounding a domed vacant cartouche which could be engraved by your silversmith if desired.

Once opened, a lavish gilded finish is revealed. The underside is where the full English hallmark can be found for Birmingham 1897 together with the makers initials H.M., for the well renowned silversmith, Henry Matthews.

Excellent condition, measuring 2 1/4" x 1 3/8" x 1" tall.
