Description

Having had many of these Victorian correspondence boxes over the years, I have only ever had one other in this shape before; most unusual.

Created to be mounted on the wall the caddy has a central divider and the brass engraved for each side " Post " and " Delivery ". These wonderful pieces would have been in a smart hotel, private club or aristocratic residence and mail placed in the box for taking either to the post office or hand delivered; very civilized!

The front brass plate is highly decorative with it's pierced or reticulated and engraved detailing.

Excellent condition and measuring 10 3/4" wide x 5 3/4" tall at rear. Some ink staining to the wood on the interior, mentioned purely for accuracy. All professionally re-polished to gleam!
