Antique English Papier Mache Tray - Westminster Abbey C.1850

Description

Wonderful to find this tray in such fabulous undamaged condition, especially as it features such a highly sought-after Eglomise central panel of Westminster Abbey.

The cast gilt handles are both original and untouched, with a good antique patina.

The tray is beautifully decorated with green and blue enamelling, this is beautifully preserved, this is what is often missing from these English Papier Mache pieces; the tray retains the majority of it's opulent gilding.

The central circular panel is made from glass in an Eglomise or reverse painted form, featuring Westminster Abbey, this is painted below the image, hard to photograph.

Excellent condition, a natural blister at 6 o'clock, not damage but mentioned for accuracy. The last owner had a glass wire attached handle to handle which I have left intact should you with to display this piece on your wall. 9 1/2" in diameter and 12 3/4" handle to handle.
