Fabulous Antique French Inlaid Tulipwood Pocket Watch Box C.1880

Description

An outstanding nineteenth century pocket watch holder, one of the best I have had in some time.

Made from highly decorative Tulip Wood, the top and front trimmed around the edges with polished brass framing. The top and front are also inlaid with Ebony and brass stringing and iridescent Mother of Pearl.

The front retains it's original thick bevelled glass window. The brass button to the front is pushed to lift the hinged lid revealing the original removable rest where the pocket watch would rest at nights, the velvet lined panel has an interior measuring 2" x 2".

The base measures 2 3/4" x 3 3/8" x 2 3/4" tall at rear.
