Antique English Olivewood Jewelry Box with Engraved Brass Fittings - C.1840

Description

A stunning piece of Olive Wood was used to create this Victorian Jewellery box dating to around 1860. This attractive grained timber is framed all around with black ebonised edging.

The top is inset with a flush cast brass carrying handle with beautiful engraving, complimenting the brass mounted escutcheon which houses the working tasselled key.

The interior is lucky enough to have retained it's silk and velvet lined finish with a removable tray. Some staining to the fabric to be expected after 150 years, but mentioned for accuracy. Excellent condition, minor wear commensurate with age, 10 1/2" x 7 1/2" x 5" tall.
