Stunning English Walnut Jewellery Box with Glazed Doors C.1900

Description

A fabulous Victorian Jewellery box dating to the late 19th century, around 1890 / 1890 with a gentle domed top with flush polished brass carrying handle.

Made from warm and highly decorative Walnut the box is in near mint condition with a complete original interior having been superbly preserved for the last 110 years. The lid opens to reveal a fitted jewellery tray lined in silk and velvet. Down each side are ring holders and a central compartment for a pocket watch, perfect today for a wristwatch or bracelet. The interior of the lid is beautifully tufted in silk.

The doors are fitted with thick bevelled glass with two drawers behind again lined with green silk. A real gem, in excellent condition having had all brass fittings professionally re-polished to gleam; and complete with working key, measuring 8 1/2" x 6" x 7" tall.
