Antique English Boxwood Staunton Style Chess Set C.1910

Description

I always love these chess sets that come in the box with the decoupaged "Chess" label on the top, to me, it just finishes off the storage box nicely.

Dating to around 1910/1920, this weighted set is made from carved and turned Boxwood and the black pieces a combination of turned Ebony and carved Ebonised Boxwood.

There are a couple of pieces that would benefit from a new piece of felt to the underside, not necessary but mentioned for accuracy. One white Bishop has a couple of minor imperfections (mentioned and shown purely for accuracy).

A reasonably priced set in excellent condition, the King standing 3 1/4" tall. The Mahogany storage box measuring 7" x 5" x 3".
