Longcase Clock Glase Bridgnorth

Description

A Georgian oak and mahogany crossbanded longcase clock. A swan-neck hood pediment and brass capped fluted hood columns. Marquetry shell inlay to the trunk door and circular inlay to the base. An attractive arched painted dial with birds and flowers to the arch and floral gilded corners. A date aperture and seconds dial. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.

Edward Glase of Bridgnorth is recorded in Elliots' 'Shropshire Clock and Watchmakers' book as working from 1770-1807.
