Unusual Oval Antique English Sterling Silver Vesta - 1903

Description

A wonderful and unusual example of an antique English solid or sterling silver match strike or Vesta in a charming oval shape

Both the front and back are beautifully engraved and the front has a shaped cartouche which is vacant and could be personalized if desired.

The lid is sprung and shuts tightly with a snap, just as it should be. The inside rim is where the British hallmark can be found for Birmingham 1903, a true Edwardian example. The makers initials are also present, W.J.H. for the silversmith, William James Holmes.

Superb condition measuring 2" x 1 3/8", weighing 1.04 Troy Ounces / 32.4 Grams.
