Description

A beautiful, fully restored, Georgian 8 day longcase clock.

The well proportioned quarter sawn oak case with mahogany crossbanding, by William Barlow of Ashton, circa 1770

Turned columns to the hood, capped with brass capitals.

Long trunk door, flanked with quarter turned mahogany columns with brass capitals.

Canted base, with ogee bracket feet.

Square brass dial with silvered chapter ring and ringed calendar.

Painted revolving moonphase dial, with finely painted Georgian sailing and rural scenes

Finely cast gilded "question mark" spandrels to the corners.

Extremely well executed engraving to the dial centre.

Fine quality original blued steel hands.

Excellent 8 day movement, striking the hours on a single bell, expertly restored to a very high standard.

Matching cast iron weights and brass faced pendulum bob.
