Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian mahogany plant stands, produced between 1901 and 1910, typically feature lighter, more delicate proportions than earlier Victorian examples. Common features include slender splayed legs, line inlay or satinwood stringing, and deep cylindrical or octagonal containers designed to hold ceramic planters.

These pieces were predominantly crafted from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, often accented with boxwood or satinwood stringing. Internal removable zinc or copper liners were frequently included to protect the timber framework from moisture damage.

Authentic pieces exhibit construction hallmarks of the early 20th century, including hand-sawn joinery, natural patination on timber surfaces, and original wood shrinkage marks around circular joins. Inlay work will be recessed directly into the solid wood or primary veneer layer rather than surface-printed.

An antique wooden plant stand can be placed in an unused corner, beside a window, or adjacent to seating to introduce varied heights in green foliage arrangements. Modern brass or simple terracotta containers placed inside contrast with the dark mahogany timber finish.

Dust timber surfaces regularly with a soft, lint-free microfibre cloth along the wood grain direction. Apply a high-grade beeswax polish sparingly twice a year to maintain the protective seal, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners or direct placement near heat sources and moisture.
