Solid Brass Folding Ruler – Windsor Burial Board

Description

"An intriguing late 19th to early 20th-century solid brass folding ruler, stamped ""Windsor Burial Board."" Folding out to a full 24 inches with a single hinge, the ruler is of heavy gauge and likely bespoke made - possibly for site measuring or formal inspection of burial plots. The scale is finely engraved and fully legible, with an aged patina throughout and a satisfyingly smooth folding mechanism.

A fascinating object with a slightly macabre air - equally suited to a collector of antique tools or someone with an eye for dark Victoriana.

Condition Report

Good functional order. The hinge folds smoothly and the ruler lies flat. Signs of age, surface tarnish, and minor marks throughout - consistent with decades of use and appropriate for the object.
