Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in commercial, industrial, and office settings during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, banks of drawers were manufactured to store documents, tools, or merchandise systematically. Their multi-drawer configuration allowed businesses such as haberdashers, architects, and clerks to maintain meticulous organisation before modern filing systems existed.

During the Edwardian era, durable hardwoods like native oak, mahogany, and pitch pine were favoured for utility furniture. Drawer fronts were often crafted using quarter-sawn timber to highlight ray medullary figure, paired with solid brass shell or cup handles and dovetailed drawer construction.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-cut or early machine dovetail joints on the drawer construction, original metal hardware with a natural aged patina, and characteristic wear around handles and bases. Look for timber signs such as quarter-sawn oak grain patterns and age-related shrinkage lines on side panels.

A bank of drawers serves as a functional statement piece in entryways, living spaces, or home offices. The warm timber tones ground modern minimalist or eclectic rooms, providing practical hidden storage for household items while adding historical depth.

Maintain the wood finish by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the patina. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and excessive humidity to prevent timber warping or cracking.
