Unusual Art Nouveau Sterling Silver Vanity Box - Glass Lined - Chester 1903

Description

A very striking and elegant antique vanity box made from English sterling silver and decorated with a stunning stylized repousse Art Nouveau design.

What makes this particularly unusual is that it is glass lined, which can be seen from the underside where the star cut base can be seen, and of course when the lid is lifted the glass interior is revealed.

Both top and base have a good clear hallmark for the highly collectible Chester assay office and the year 1903, Edwardian in era. The makers mark is also present for the famous silversmith, James Deakin. The base is also stamped with a design registration number 392164.

Excellent condition, measuring 3 1/4" tall and a lid diameter measuring 2 3/4".
