MebleinUK has dated this Georgian Oak Writing Bureau to the Georgian era.

The fall-front opens to reveal a particularly attractive and practical fitted interior, incorporating an arrangement of small drawers, pigeonholes and compartments, together with a central cupboard. When lowered, the front provides a generous writing surface, making this a highly functional piece as well as an impressive antique.

Below are four full width graduated drawers, each fitted with traditional brass handles and key escutcheons. Additional brass fittings and carrying handles to the sides add further period character.
The bureau stands on shaped bracket feet, giving the substantial cabinet an elegant and well balanced appearance.

Very good antique condition considering its considerable age, with a solid and substantial construction.
The timber displays a rich natural patina together with age-related marks, scratches, wear, colour variation and historic signs of use, particularly to the writing surface and fall front. These are consistent with a genuine antique of this age and contribute considerably to its character.
