The Chelsea Bijouterie Ltd has dated this piece to the 1950s.

The necklace is composed of wonderfully lustrous cultured saltwater pearls in a soft creamy ivory colour with delicate pink and green overtones. Graduating from approximately 3mm to 8mm, the pearls range from near-round to gently baroque, giving the necklace the subtle individuality and character associated with genuine cultured pearls.

The three strands sit beautifully around the neckline, creating the classic layered appearance so closely associated with the glamorous jewellery of the 1950s.
Of particular note is the decorative rectangular clasp. Fashioned in 9 carat gold, it is centred by a single pearl within an elegant scrolling foliate design. Delicate millegrain detailing surrounds the decoration, which is highlighted by sixteen small rough-cut diamonds, lending just the right amount of sparkle without detracting from the pearls.

The necklace is accompanied by an AnchorCert Gem Lab Pearl Jewellery Report, confirming the tested pearls to be beaded cultured saltwater pearls. The report describes their colour as cream with pink-green overtones and their lustre as very good to good.

For peace of mind and continued wear, the necklace was professionally restrung in July 2026.
A timeless and wonderfully feminine pearl necklace which looks particularly striking when worn and would make an elegant addition to any fine vintage jewellery collection.
