Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Zardozi is an elaborate metallic embroidery technique that originated in Persia and flourished in India during the Mughal Empire. Historically executed using gold and silver threads on velvet or silk grounds, it was used to embellish royal garments, court hangings, and decorative wall panels depicting imperial or architectural scenes.

Traditional pieces utilise a dense silk or velvet substrate embroidered with metallic wrapped threads, sequins, metallic spangles, and wire. The embroidery is stitched over padded foundations to create a raised three-dimensional texture across architectural and figurative motifs.

Authentic works feature hand-stitched couching technique, slight irregularities in thread tension, and natural oxidisation or patina on the metallic elements. Examining the reverse of the panel typically reveals intricate hand-knotted threads rather than uniform machine stitching.

Framed embroidery panels add rich texture and historical narrative when incorporated into wall gallery arrangements alongside framed works on paper. Mounting the textile inside a simple, clean-lined timber frame allows the metallic relief work to stand out against neutral interior backdrops.

Keep embroidered textiles framed behind UV-filtering glass to prevent silk degradation and thread fading. Avoid hanging panels in areas with high humidity or direct sunlight, and ensure the textile is mounted onto acid-free backing materials.
