Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Dr Wall First Period Worcester porcelain refers to ceramics produced at the Worcester factory between 1751 and 1783 under the leadership of Dr John Wall. This era is distinguished by the use of soapstone soft-paste porcelain, complex hand-painted enamel patterns, transfer printing, and elaborate gilding.

Pieces were made using soft-paste porcelain modified with soaprock (steatite), which increased thermal resistance. The decoration was rendered using mineral-based enamel pigments and gold leaf gilding, applied over an lead-based glaze.

Authentic items often feature a greenish or yellowish tint when held to a light source due to the steatite content. Factory marks may include hand-painted blue open crescents, square fretted marks, or painter marks, along with characteristic shrinkage on unglazed footrims.

Antique cups and saucers are suited to display inside glazed cabinets, placed on plate stands upon decorative sideboards, or grouped in shelving units as accent pieces within classical decorative schemes.

Soft-paste porcelain should be gently cleaned by hand using warm water and a mild detergent. Avoid submersion, chemical cleaners, abrasive sponges, and dishwashers to protect overglaze enamels and original gilding from wear.
