Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency wall clocks, produced in Britain between approximately 1810 and 1830, are distinguished by their clean circular frames, rich mahogany or rosewood surrounds, brass bezels, and off-white painted dials displaying clear Roman numerals. Many utilized heavy-duty spring-driven fusee movements designed for reliability in commercial and domestic settings.

These timepieces typically featured solid and veneered mahogany or oak cases, cast brass bezels with convex glass, hand-painted iron or brass dials, and blued steel hands driven by brass movement plates and steel arbours.

Authentic Regency examples feature hand-painted dials often bearing the makers name and city location, cast brass bezels with latch mechanisms, flame mahogany surrounds with narrow mouldings, and heavy brass fusee movements rather than lighter modern quartz or balance-wheel mechanisms.

A circular mahogany wall clock functions as a focal point when hung above a sideboard, mantelpiece, or within a gallery wall alongside framed prints. Its warm timber tones contrast well against contemporary neutral paint palettes and dark accent walls.

Keep the wood casing clean using a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax sparingly along the grain to preserve the original patina. Ensure mechanical movement servicing is performed every five to seven years by a professional horologist, and keep the clock away from direct heat sources or high humidity.
