Superb 17th Century Walnut Cabinet on Chest, William & Mary C.1690.

Description

An outstanding example of small proportions with beautiful figured walnut & decorative featherbanding to the door panels & drawer fronts.

The doors to the top cabinet section open to reveal nine small drawers & a central locking cupboard, all in figured walnut with their original gilt backplates & handles & key hole escutcheon.

Inside the central cupboard are three further small drawers. All drawers with oak linings.

Characteristic short grain mouldings to cornice, waist & plinth. Concealed cushion frieze drawer just below cornice.

Later 18th Century swan neck handles to lower section & later decorative hinges to doors.

A country house showpiece in excellent condition that would look stunning in a sitting room or study.

Dimensions:

Width 45" (114.3cm) at base.

Height 65" (166cm)

Depth 20 1/2" (52.1cm) at base.
