Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Bedside cabinets made of satinwood in the early 20th century were created during the Edwardian Revival period. Cabinetmakers drew inspiration from late 18th-century Neo-Classical designs popularized by Thomas Sheraton, incorporating light timbers and hand-painted figurative ornament.

These cabinets typically feature a primary carcass of solid timber covered in West Indian or East Indian satinwood veneers. Decorative elements include hand-painted polychrome enamels, mahogany crossbanding, hand-dovetailed drawer joints, and square tapered legs.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural timber patination, slight irregularities in hand-painted details, and period-correct joinery such as hand-cut dovetails and solid timber drawer linings. Oxidation on interior surfaces and natural crazing in the original lacquer also indicate age.

Place the pair on either side of an upholstered headboard to bring warmth and classical structure to a bedroom. Alternatively, position them as individual accent tables in a formal reception room or wide entrance hall.

Dust surfaces regularly with a clean, dry microfibre cloth. Keep the cabinets away from direct sunlight and radiator heat to prevent timber shrinkage, veneer lifting, and fading of the painted artwork.
