Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Arts and Crafts pewter inkwells, produced from the late nineteenth to early twentieth century, emphasize organic forms, hand-crafted aesthetics, and functional design. Designers often incorporated stylized foliate motifs, hand-hammered surfaces, and enamel or ceramic cabochons to contrast with the soft grey metal.

These inkwells were typically cast or hammered from pewter alloys, which often included tin combined with small amounts of copper or antimony. Decorative highlights were frequently added using vibrant glazed ceramic cabochons, glass inserts, or enamelled copper plaques.

Authentic pieces usually bear stamped maker marks, registration numbers, or manufacturer stamps on the underside, such as those for William Hutton & Sons or Tudric. Look for characteristic signs of hand-finishing, proper age-related oxidisation, and original ceramic or glass components.

An antique pewter inkwell works effectively as a sculptural accent on a modern home office desk, library bureau, or living room bookshelf. Grouping it alongside leather-bound volumes, brass instruments, or framed botanical prints enhances its historical texture.

Dust the item regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners, abrasive pastes, or immersion in water, as these can strip the original surface patina and damage delicate ceramic cabochons or underlying adhesives.
