Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this French Repeating Carriage Clock to the 1870s.
Signed “Soldano” underneath the platform. 13cms high (handle down) 9cms wide. c1870

JOSEPH SOLDANO was a maker of “fine Carriage Clocks” and was awarded medals at the Paris Exhibitions of 1855 and 1878. It was recorded at the time that: “the finish of the movements was conventional but the escapements have been treated with particular care”. Several items (on display) merited “the highest praise”. (Revue Chronometrique, page 70 ~ report on the 1878 exhibition)
