Sandbanks Antiques has dated this Gold Splash Bronze Censer to the 18th Century.

Weight and Proportions: Demonstrating a wonderful tactile heft for its size, the censer measures 11 cm in diameter and weighs a substantial 1.2 kg, showcasing the thick, high-quality casting typical of traditional scholar's studio (wenfang) pieces.

Surface Decoration: The deep, warm brown patination is richly accented with organic, contrasting splashes of gold (jinding / gold-splash), which catch the light dynamically across the rounded shoulders of the vessel.

The Cover & Stand: The matching reticulated domed lid features a crisp, geometric honeycomb lattice surmounted by a smooth spherical finial, designed to softly diffuse incense smoke while mirroring the craftsmanship below. The piece sits upon its original matching stand.

Marks & Details: The base of the censer bears a classic abstract, stylized geometric foundry mark enclosed within a circular cartouche, aligning with traditional commercial scholar's production.
Condition: Good overall antique condition; the main body, cover, and gold-splashed decoration present remarkably well, with minor, age-appropriate handling wear to the edge of the matching stand.
Provenance: Private UK Collection
