Vintage 1960s Amethyst & Seed Pearl Drop Earrings 9ct Gold

A gorgeous pair of 1960s amethyst and seed pearl drop earrings, beautifully made in 9 carat yellow gold in the romantic Victorian and Edwardian revival style.

Each earring is set to the top with a wonderfully rich purple round faceted amethyst, suspended from which is a delicate articulated knife-edge bar. Below is a charming foliate motif, each leaf delicately decorated with two tiny seed pearls and framing a beautiful pear-shaped amethyst drop.

The rich violet-purple amethysts have a lovely depth of colour and sparkle beautifully as the earrings move. The articulated construction allows the lower drops to swing gently when worn, giving these elegant earrings considerable movement and charm.

Dating precisely to 1967, they capture the renewed enthusiasm for Victorian and Edwardian jewellery that became fashionable during the 1960s, while remaining wonderfully easy to wear today.

They are fitted with posts and butterfly backs for pierced ears and look exceptionally pretty when worn.
