Fine Regency Inlaid Mahogany Cheval Mirror, C.1800–1820

Description

A Regency mahogany cheval mirror dating from the early 19th century, beautifully proportioned and finely detailed throughout. The elegant shield-shaped mirror plate is enclosed within a graceful mahogany frame, surmounted by a sweeping arched crest and flanked by turned finials.

The mirror is supported on shaped uprights terminating in decorative roundels, each adorned with intricate satinwood floral inlay. Standing on elegant splayed legs united by a moulded stretcher, the piece retains its original brass castors, making it both practical and easy to position.

Crafted from richly figured mahogany with delicate inlay, this cheval mirror is a fine example of Regency craftsmanship. The large adjustable mirror provides an excellent full-length reflection while making a striking decorative statement in a bedroom, dressing room, hallway or reception room.
