Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A trombone link chain features elongated oval links alternating with shorter circular links, a design prominent during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras. Originally crafted as Albert watch chains to secure pocket watches to waistcoats, these pieces frequently feature T-bars and dog clip clasps.

Edwardian Albert chains were predominantly crafted from solid 9ct, 15ct, or 18ct yellow gold, rose gold, or sterling silver. The individual links were formed and soldered by hand, utilising solid wire to ensure durability for daily functional use.

Authentic antique chains feature individual hallmarks stamped into individual links, the T-bar, or the dog clip clasp, indicating gold purity and date letters. Evidence of historic hand-assembly, minor surface oxidisation, and era-appropriate swivel mechanisms further verify authenticity.

In a modern wardrobe, an antique Albert chain can be worn layered with contemporary pendants or styled as a choker necklace. For interior display, it can be presented within a glass shadow box or arranged on a velvet tray atop a dressing table.

Clean gold chains using warm water, gentle soap, and a soft brush to clear accumulated oils. Ensure the spring mechanisms inside dog clips and swivels remain completely dry, and store the chain flat in a soft fabric pouch to avoid scratching.
