Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Traditional Tibetan rugs are distinguished by their distinct knotting system, woven on vertical looms using high-altitude sheep wool. Their designs frequently incorporate Buddhist symbolism, central circular medallions, floral sprigs, and geometric borders such as the Greek key or meander pattern.

These runners are traditionally crafted using hand-spun wool pile secured over a cotton or wool warp and weft foundation. The weaving utilizes a unique Tibetan knotting technique involving a rod to form the loops, resulting in a dense, resilient pile dyed with plant and mineral pigments.

Authentic pieces exhibit slight asymmetry in knotting, soft natural dye variations known as abrash, and a flexible yet heavy handle. Examining the back reveals distinct horizontal ridges characteristic of the Tibetan loop-knot construction method.

A long runner provides structure and visual warmth to expansive hallways, entryways, or alongside a bed. The contrast between neutral ground tones and indigo or red decorative elements allows it to anchor both minimalist contemporary spaces and eclectic interiors.

Vacuum regularly using a suction-only setting without a rotating beater bar to protect the wool fibres. Promptly blot spills with a clean, dry cloth and consult a specialist rug restorer for deep cleaning or repair work.
