Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Bracket clocks originated in England during the mid-to-late 17th century following the invention of the pendulum movement. Designed to be portable, they were named for the small, matching wooden brackets upon which they were placed on walls, though they were also used on tables and mantelpieces.

Traditional construction involved an oak or fruitwood carcase overlaid with patterned burr walnut veneers. The dials were typically made from brass plates fitted with silvered chapter rings, cast brass corner spandrels, and glass front doors.

Authentic design hallmarks include an inverted bell or caddy top with a brass carry handle, hand-engraved brass or silvered dials, spandrels depicting cherubs or scrolling foliage, and key-wound mechanical movements.

A bracket clock functions well as a focal point on a mantelpiece, a dark wood sideboard, or within a formal bookcase. Pairing it with contemporary artwork or minimalist ceramics creates a balanced, eclectic aesthetic.

Keep the wooden case away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent the walnut veneer from drying or cracking. Dust the case regularly with a soft cloth and have the mechanical movement serviced by a professional horologist every few years.
