In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
It has two letter slots on the top beside ivorine labels "Unanswered" and "Answered". The interior is divided into two sections to correspond with the different slots and it comes with a working key.
It is in good original condition and displays beautifully. There are a few small knocks and marks around the outside and general signs of age and light use but nothing detrimental. The interior is lined with decorative red paper which has a few small stains and losses but nothing untoward and it is certainly a usable piece. The box has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
